Angel Blazer, 48
What's your story? Where do you come from? How did you become the person you are today?
I have been married for 28 years to my high school sweetheart. I have one son, still in college and a dog named Gibson. I enjoy sitting on the beach with my toes in the sand and a drink in my hand, kayaking, walking, cooking/baking, music and reading.
What do you do for a living? Or what is your dream job?
My dream job has become being a paraprofessional at Green Elementary working with ages preschool and kindergarten. This wasn’t my dream job out of high school. I didn’t realize it was until I was in my mid 30’s when I started volunteering at my son’s school. I was encouraged to become a paraprofessional so I could get paid for what I was already doing. So, I made the decision to go for it! I’m so glad I did, too. I had finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up! There is nothing that could be more important than being part of the children’s lives preparing them for success and their future. I enjoy being a part of their learning and giving them the tools they will need to be successful learners.
What would you say to a past version of yourself?
I would say to myself ….live! Live wildly and passionately. Be brave enough to try something new. Make mistakes and be sure to learn from them. Go on adventures and have some fun. Be present in the moment.
I have always felt like I was expected to live and act a certain way - to stay inside the “ good girl” box. Having the name Angel didn’t help much either.
I would also be kinder to myself. I’d put myself first sometimes instead of others all the time. I’d embrace change instead of trying to control it. To be more understanding, compassionate, open minded and less judgmental. I’d definitely tell myself to listen to and follow my heart.
What is your favorite inspiring quote or words?
My favorite inspiring quotes almost always have to do with some version of kindness. I love using quotes. Quotes are like song lyrics. They make you think about your life and your relationships. They make you see what you have and what you want. Quotes trigger gratitude and self improvement. I like to share quotes with my friends and on social media to let people know how I feel about them or show how I want to be known.
Here are 2 of my most recent favorites.
“ If you have a chance to brighten someone’s day go ahead and do it. The world needs more of that.”
“You can never know the ripple effect you create with one tiny gesture of kindness.”
I like these because it reminds me to out in the effort to be who I want to be. This efforts don’t always have to be big either. It’s usually the smaller gestures that are noticed and remembered. It’s always nice to brighten someone’s day and if it prompts them to pass it on, even better!
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
I have just recently shown an interest in traveling. So, I’m ready to go wherever my sister or friends will take me!
What would you say to a friend who is considering a photoshoot with us? What was your experience like at Jessica Malone Portrait?
I’d tell my friend to go for it! You won’t regret it! My experience with Jessica and Hailey was amazing, fun and laid back. I’m so glad I did it for me! And a bonus was being able to share this experience with my sister.
