5 Ways to Feel More Confident in Front of the Camera

Jessica Malone Portrait’s Posing Guide to Feel More Confident

1.) Give yourself some love: Drink lots of water. Get rest. Allow time in your schedule to prepare - let yourself sleep in a little, try to avoid planning stressful events around the same time as your shoot. Do some yoga. These steps works wonders for you mentally, emotionally and physically.

2.) Be thoughtful about what you wear. Find clothes that make you feel amazing. Rock your favorite color that brings out your eyes. Have great arms? Show em off. Choose fitted clothes because they are more flattering in photographs. Take the time to plan so you won’t be stressed the night before or the day of your shoot.

3.) Just be you. Authenticity is the key behind so many things- including feeling confident no matter what situation you are in and especially in front of the camera. Take a breath and be yourself! The more you relax the better your photos will be. Almost always my clients favorite shots are the ones we get at the very end. Why? Becasue by then they are realxed, they have forgetten they are at a photoshoot and they just start to be themselves. It’s magical, every time. And you can channel this whenver you want.

4.) Music! Create a playlist of songs that pump you up. Play it the day of your shoot or whenev you need. Music has some pretty magical effects on humans. I encourage my clients to make this playlist and I always put it on during shoots and it makes a total difference! You become more relaxed, more empowered, more YOU (refer back to #3)

5.) Affirmations and mirror work. Repeat after me: “I am beautiful. I am powerful. I am successful. I am valuable. I am worthy. Just as I am. I love you.” Now do this in front of the mirror. Make eye contact. Hold it. Give yourself the biggest, friendlist smile you have - th eone you give to the people you love (cause you should be one of them!) Say it again. And again. Give yourself a high five. Now go get ‘em you gorgeous thing!

BONUS #6) Hire a photographer, like me, who takes care of everything for you: styles your wardrobe, helps you shop, provides you with professional hair and makup artistry, and guides you 110% every step of the way.
